About the Event
The Majan Research Excellence: Student Paper Presentation Contest 2024 is a premier academic event aimed at encouraging students to explore and present their research ideas. The contest provides an ideal platform for undergraduate, postgraduate students and recent graduates students from Oman to showcase their research work , refine their presentation skills, and gain recognition for their contributions.
This event is designed to foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration among students, while helping them build a strong foundation in research methodologies and presentation techniques. The event accepts articles in both English and Arabic ( if the participant's medium of instruction is Arabic )

Keynote Speakers
Rabie A. Ramadan, PhD
Professor at Information Systems Department, College of Economics, Management, and Information Systems, University of Nizwa, Oman.Building a Sustainable Future with AI: Innovation, Responsibility, and Impact
Dr. Ramadan is a professor in the field of Computer Science. His research interest is in the fields of Artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Computing, and Computational Intelligence. He received his master’s and Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, Texas, USA. He has work experience of more than 27 years in teaching and research. He also has industrial experience as the executive manager for software development companies for more than 10 years. He is leading various research groups in the fields of IoT and Computational Intelligence. He is the author of more than 140 journal and conference articles in the fields of AI, IoT, Sensor Networks, Mobile Computing, and Computational Intelligence. He also served as a general chair, co-chair, and TPC for several conferences and Journals.

The abstracts submitted and presented in the Majan Research Excellence: IEEE Region 8 Local Student Paper Contest will be published in the International Journal of Engineering Research & Technology (IJERT). This journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to the fields of engineering, technology, and science, and it accepts both original research and review articles across these disciplines.

No, only an extended abstract of 500 words is required. - Will my abstract be published?
Yes, we intend to publish the accepted abstracts as a proceedings volume with an ISBN in collaboration with our publication partners. - Who is eligible to submit an abstract?
The contest is open to students and recent graduates (graduated in 2022 or later) from any Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Oman. - Can a school student submit an abstract?
No, this event is currently open only to students and graduates from HEIs. - Can an academic be listed as a co-author?
Yes, an academic can be a co-author, but the first author must be a student or recent graduate. - Are there any registration fees?
No, there are no registration fees for this contest. - What is the submission process?
All abstracts should be submitted via the CMT submission system. Each submission will undergo a double-blind review by two reviewers. - What is the deadline for submission?
The deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 Nov 2024. - When will I know if my abstract is accepted?
Lead authors will be notified of the submission outcome on 17 Nov 2024. - How long should my presentation be if selected?
Presentations should last approximately 15 minutes, including a brief Q&A session. - Are there prizes for the contest?
Yes, prizes will be awarded based on the ranking of the abstract and oral presentation within specific categories. - Can I submit my abstract written in Arabic?
Yes, you can submit in Arabic and present in Arabic if your medium of instruction is Arabic. - Will participants receive certificates?
Yes, all selected papers presented in the contest will be awarded a certificate of participation for each author.
