Majan College launches ACCA certification in IFRS

Majan College has launched the ACCA certification in IAS/IFRS. An introductory seminar was held in the college to provide information to prospective students. Speaking on the occasion Ikram ul Haq, Programme Manager ACCA at Majan College said “Majan College started offering professional ACCA qualifications in 2009 and in a short period of time has established itself as number one choice for ACCA aspirants.
However we believe it is not easy for everyone to go for ACCA qualification due to its challenging requirements in terms of time and effort. There was huge demand for a professional qualification which is flexible and which suits the tight schedule of working professionals who have both family and work commitments.
The ACCA’s certificate in IFRS is an ideal qualification for people already working in accounting profession with or without any formal qualification and who want to gain an ACCA qualification. The duration of the course is six months and the certification will make candidates well versed in all International Accounting Standards and will add value to their CVs giving them better career prospects. The flexible assessment method gives working people much better chances of passing this exam as compared to other professional exams”.

The first election for President and Vice President of Majan Student Council (MSC) has recently taken place.

Students wishing to stand as candidates completed an application form before undertaking a selection interview carried out by Senior College staff.
This produced two eligible pairs of candidates.
The candidates then spent a week campaigning to gain the support of potential voters.  This also included two question and answer sessions chaired by a senior member of staff.  This enabled students to question the candidates on their suitability for the roles of President and Vice President.

Voting took place over two days in the LRC/Auditorium and the following day the count took place and the result was announced which was as follows:

Ali - marjabi (President) and Bashir Al Shabibi (Vice President)       291 votes
Ronnie Barua (President) and Armin Varya (Vice President)             170 votes
There were 5 spoilt papers.
Turnout                                                                              38.8%

So, congratulations to Ali and Bashir and commiserations to Ronnie and Armrin, who have both graciously pledged their support to the new MSC President and Vice President.  Everyone at Majan wishes Ali and Bashir ever success in their new roles and with the responsibilities that go with them.
The next MSC event is the Societies Fayre that will take place over the 13th,14th and 15th November.   When students will be able to sign up for the different societies they wish to be involved with.
